The long-awaited moment has arrived...for Dear Rae Rae to drop!
A few amazing conversations with various corps members about their experiences and time spent in schools and with children--and the frustrating 5 to 10 minutes of spare time we all have each week to talk to each other outside of service--made me have a gigantic epiphany:
I wanted to start a write-in "advice/discussion column" for our site, in which I could try to share some of the random wisdom I have managed to pick up in this crazy ever-growing snowball that looks like my life.
So what do you do? Email me questions or topics that you'd like to see more about. Ideally, these things are related to teaching, children, schools, administration, and anything of that nature. That being said, I don't want you to feel restricted! Our site is so full of fantastic resources and experiences that I'd open it up to anything service-related that you think the whole corps might benefit from. This blog is for you!! (It's just that I happen to know more about education...)
How it works:
Queries, concerns and thoughts should be emailed to me at rneuwirth@cityyear.org. If you are in the office, you could also write me a little note and drop it in the awe-inspiring, jaw-dropping CY mailbox, located atop the tornado that is my desk, and I will read/include those too!
I will compile everything that is emailed or given to me and TRY to be consistent in getting a biweekly (meaning every two weeks) blog going. From there, corps members are welcome to comment, post additional input, and so on. Participation is strictly voluntary. Anonymity is honored.
I'm really excited about having an accessible forum for all of you to share ideas and explore each other's experiences. A wise person once said..."It's in your hands!"
PS--I may or may not have puzzles, games, and coloring contest announcements as well, so TUNE IN for your chance to win!! :)
